The Travelling Pavilion is a modular timber structure designed to demonstrate the potential of Spain’s mass timber industry. Measuring 18 metres long, 5 metres wide and up to 5.5 metres high, it brings together products and systems contributed by more than 15 companies from across the sector.
PEFC certified, the pavilion traces the timber value chain from its renewable origins in the forest through to its application in circular architecture.
Two entrances, oriented towards the forest and the city, frame the pavilion as a threshold between these two contexts and a material and conceptual connection between the forest and sustainable urban construction.
Visitors follow the journey of timber through the pavilion, from real logs at ground level representing its forest origins to the construction systems that form the building itself. CLT panels form the lateral rings, lightweight timber framing shapes the central body, and timber boards span the floors. Demountable connections make every component readable and accessible. Nothing is hidden. The construction itself becomes both exhibit and exhibition.
The pavilion is not simply an illustration of timber construction. It is a full-scale demonstration of it.
Designed according to the principles of the New European Bauhaus – beauty, sustainability and inclusion – the pavilion is open, light-filled and accessible to all.
Designed in collaboration with Club Madera, a network connecting more than 45 companies across Spain’s timber value chain, from forest to building, the Travelling Pavilion was assembled in Madrid in March 2026 to mark International Day of Forests. Its modular construction allows it to be dismantled, transported and reassembled at future locations.
